RESUMO

Partindo do nome de uma rua da cidade de Salgueiro-PE este trabalho procura reconstituir a biografia de um comerciante local: Alexandre da Cruz Parente, filho de um boiadeiro e suposto descendente do fundador da cidade, ele procurou reinventar sua identidade após ser expulso do sítio familiar por perseguições políticas e foi pioneiro entre os muitos pequenos empresários comerciais do seu clã surgidos após a década de 1950. Uma doença acabou com sua vida e as possibilidades de ascensão familiar no final dos anos 60. O cotidiano local, a ancestralidade familiar e a miscigenação cultural do sertanejo foram estudados a partir do personagem e das suas relações familiares e profissionais. O período que se seguiu a Segunda Guerra Mundial revolucionou as relações socioeconômicas e culturais em todas as partes do mundo e teve um impacto significativo na cidade. Também a nova moda genealógica de se investigar ancestralidade judaica no interior brasileiro recebeu embasamento acadêmico sendo analisados junto com outros povos esquecidos, os ciganos e mouros.
